Job description: SUMMARY: Provide administrative office support to administration, staff, students, parents and the school community by implementing district procedures, policies, and systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Prepare, copy and distribute notices, memoranda or other correspondence for the purpose of informing school employees regarding activities, events or other work-related matters
- Assist in planning and scheduling school events and activities
- Assist in maintaining documents, files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance
- Prepare purchase orders for the purpose of submitting to the school district's accounting/finance office
- Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and materials
- Assist visitors to the office, including students, parents, and substitutes teachers/paraprofessionals
- Answer telephone calls and provide information and assistance to callers
- Distribute incoming mail appropriately and send outgoing mail
- Evaluate situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
- Register new students, ensure forms are complete, obtain transcripts and other documentation as needed, and enter data into computer system regarding enrollment and student records
- Respond to inquiries from students, parents and employees, provide information, facilitate communication among parties and provide direction
- Perform other related duties as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with colleagues, students, parents and the school community
- Excellent computer skills
- Highly efficient and self-motivated
- Reliable and dependable attendance
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations and with multiple interruptions
- Associate degree in office administration preferred
- Previous office experience preferred
- Prior experience working in an elementary school preferred
